Orthopedic Physician Assistant

Our physicians are supported by a framework of continuing education and collaboration with complementary fields such as physical therapy, manual therapy and nutritional supplementation.

State-of-the-art Regenerative Therapies

We treat a full spectrum of orthopedic conditions traditionally slated for intensive surgery. Some of our minimally invasive therapies include:

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Prolotherapy – For mild to moderate osteoarthritis and soft tissue injuries.

Orthobiologics – For more challenging osteoarthritis and injuries requiring enhanced tissue repair.

Bone Marrow & Adipose-Derived Therapies – For complex cases such as severe osteoarthritis and high-grade tissue tears where more bioactive effects are needed.

The Physician Assistant (PA) will provide health care services to patients under the direction of a physician. PA’s are academically and clinically trained to perform many of the routine but time-consuming tasks that physicians usually do and are accountable for their own actions and accountable to their supervising physicians.

  • Promotes and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
  • Contributes to a physician’s efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues.
  • Recommends options and courses of action for patient care.
  • Implements physician directives.
  • Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
  • Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory studies and interpreting test results.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.
  • Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living.
  • Provides community of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct supervisory experience.

Work Environment

This job operates in a clinic environment. This role is routinely exposed to common health care conditions, smells, noises, chemicals and such. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Travel

Travel may be required to our Easton or Annapolis locations as needed.

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program
  • State license
  • BLS certification
