Dr. Michael Auriemma specializes in sports and musculoskeletal
medicine. He completed an ACGME-accredited Sports Medicine Fellowship
through Harvard Medical School, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and
Massachusetts General Hospital. His fellowship training focused on the
diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic sports-related injuries,
as he worked with athletes of all levels, from recreational to
professional. He served as a primary team physician for two colleges
while also providing sports coverage for high school and college
football, college ice hockey, professional soccer, and professional
baseball. He received extensive training in sports ultrasound for both
diagnostic and interventional procedures, including advanced
reparative techniques.Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Auriemma completed his residency in
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Georgetown University
Hospital/National Rehabilitation Hospital, where he served as Chief
Resident and was twice named “Resident of the Year.” He received his
medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New
Jersey after graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor of science
from The University of Maryland, College Park. He is credited with
numerous publications and has presented at both regional and national
conferences, including as an ultrasound instructor.
Dr. Auriemma is passionate about treating all athletes and active
individuals. He strives to help patients maintain, or return to, an
active lifestyle through the provision of thorough, thoughtful, and
empathetic care. Outside of medicine he personally enjoys exercise,
hiking, cooking, traveling, watching sports, and spending time with
his family.
